State of Israel
Israel is a small country. One can arrive home in several hours from any place in Israel.
But our love to our country isn't small at all. We Jews can't afford to ourselves to
loose it, and almost everyone of us understands it, no matter if religious or secular,
no matter whenever we live, no matter how we defend our country - with guns, with
prayers or by pieces of paper which say "piece agreement".
I'm one of those who defend the State of Israel
by serving the Army. Israel passed through six wars, and our enemies were defeated in
each one of these wars. The first one of them was the War of Independance. Arab armies
invented into the State of Israel after it wasproclaimed in May, 14th, 1948 by
"The Declaration of the Establishment of the State of Israel".
The War of Independenceended in June, 1949.
The Arab-Israeli wars are:
There is still a great danger for existance of our country. There is nothing we can
do about it, just to be ready for the next war.
Yes, Israel is a small country. Paint in yellow Golan Heights and the West Bank on the map
above - if you aren't Israeli, you probably woudn't take a risk to live in this place.
But in this small country many multiple cultures meet every day: religious and secular
jews, jews from former USSR, Morocco, Poland, Yemen and many other countries,
jews who was born in Israel, jews and arabs, rich and poor, socialists from kibbutz and
city residents... We just can't agree about anything. They say, "Two jews together - three
different opinions". These different opinions may and do cause major problems to Israel's
politics, economics, foreign affairs... - anything you may possibly have in mind. But
our different minds also contain solutions for these problems, we just need to know how
to exploit these solutions.
